About the Event
Ghiribizzi , playful brainwaves, for that you have to go to the Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet. The four energetic people won a Festival Award this spring for their creative programming and sparkling performance, where old and new, original and arrangement flow smoothly into each other. Tonight you will hear, among other things, A Shimmering Light by Ramin Amin Tafreshi, written for the Schiermonnikoog Festival 2022, the 7 Capricci (or: moods) by Jörg Widmann, and Mozart's famous Adagio & Fugue. The quartet also breaks a lance for the music of Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and Francesca Caccini. Musicologist Saskia Törnqvist will talk extensively about these and other female composers during three festival lectures, entirely dedicated to women in classical music.
