Opera Forward Festival 2021

Saoshyant is the Avestan language expression that means ‘one who brings benefit’. This person is considered as an eschatological saviour, who will advent to humanity and make the world perfect and immortal. This person is the one who will make an end to all the misery and oppression; the one who will eventually bring the final renovation of the world in which evil will finally be destroyed.

In Ramin Tafreshi's adaptation of the famous story from the Shabnameh; "The book of kings" you are brought to the mythical kingdom of Zahhak. The world of the snake king and the quest for the real Saoshyant of this story. During the festival you will get an unique insight into the working process of the composer. We follow Ramin’s research into what this quest for a saviour means for ourselves and for our relationships towards others.
