Hitchcock's Vertigo, Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Amin Tafreshi
Van Engelenhoven presents an extremely diverse program this evening. After a beloved sonata by Mozart, you will hear the latest collaboration with composer Ramin Amin Tafreshi in a world premiere of a major work that will reflect on the questions and tensions of our time. After the break, you will hear music by composers who all lived on the West Coast of the United States, but whose roots lay elsewhere. Famous preludes by Rachmaninoff are followed by film music by Franz Waxman and Bernard Herrmann, including a suite from Hitchcock's Vertigo , composed and arranged by Van Engelenhoven.
