A Shimmering Light is a work for Reed Quintet and Narrator that was commissioned by Schiermonnikoog Festival. It was created in collaboration with Dianto Reed Quintet and Zachary West.
A Shimmering Light is the story of a man who lives on a remote island. His monologues reveal his thoughts and observations, which drive him into an unexpected situation.
To create this work, I got inspired by Persian and European mythical stories. Furthermore, many described imaginaries hint at actual places and elements on the Schiemonnikoog island.
The piece has been arranged for different chamber ensembles. Namely, Clarinet and Saxophone Quartet, or oboe, 3 clarinets and bassoon.
